Our Consortium

IMPACT (Initiation of a cohort to define pathogenic Mechanisms, Precision diagnosis And Complications of Thrombotic Microangiopathies)  is a consortium of academic medical centers and investigators partnering with the United States Thrombotic Microangiopathy (USTMA) Alliance and other patient advocacy and industry collaborators to enhance research, clinical care, education and patient advocacy to improve the lives of people working with thrombotic microangiopathies.

Diseases studied:

  • Immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP)
  • Congenital thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (cTTP)
  • Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), also called complement mediated TMA (CM-TMA)
  • Other thrombotic microangiopathies including those occurring due to drugs, pregnancy, or transplant.

IMPACT is part of the National Institute of Health’s Rare Disease Clinical Research Network (RDCRN) and is supported by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) grant U54HL185001.
